The Indian government may decide not to send a team to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup and the Champions Trophy 2025 , according to multiple media reports in India from yesterday, citing a trustworthy source from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) who spoke with news agency PTI. Because of this worry, the PCB has already demanded payment from the ICC.
The Champions Trophy 2025 may be transferred from Pakistan to another nation, according to reports from Zee News, DNA India, and PTI, among other media outlets.
The new location has been announced as the United Arab Emirates( Dubai). The Middle Eastern nation may host the entire competition. Like the most recent Asia Cup, the competition may also be conducted using a hybrid format. Hence, while the games for other teams will be played in Pakistan, those for India will take place in the United Arab Emirates.
In Ahmedabad, PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf and Chief Operating Officer Salman Nasser had talks with representatives of the ICC Executive Board, even though the Champions Trophy’s location is still unknown.
According to a source who spoke to PTI and was cited by Zee News and DNA India, the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) has once more declined to send a team to Pakistan. Therefore, the PCB officials have stated unequivocally that the ICC must never act in a unilateral manner.
Large teams like England, Australia, and New Zealand have played in Pakistan for the past two years with full strength squads and no security risks. PCB representatives have brought up this matter during the conversation as well.
2017 saw the final Champions Trophy competition. At the London Oval, Pakistan triumphed over India in the final. It was decided to discontinue the Champions Trophy after that when the ICC introduced the ODI Super League. Thus, there was no tournament in 2021.
Nevertheless, the Champions Trophy was retained in the Future Schedule Plan (FTP) when the ICC later overturned that ruling. Pakistan is in charge of planning.
